First of all, a quick “thank you” to the handful of folks who came out last Thursday to do a little work on the portion of the Bald Mountain Trail that was used in the Super D National Championship. This was a great way to show our appreciation to the land managers and the general public for allowing the race to be held on a trail that is normally not open for downhill mountain bike traffic.
Next up is an online auction that will be ending this afternoon. Up for grabs is THE Specialized Fate that Rebecca Rusch rode to victory (and a new course record) at the 2011 Leadville Trail 100. The 17.5″ Team Edition Carbon Frame is built up with SRAM XX drivetrain, carbon bars, carbon post, carbon crankset, and even a carbon wheelset. Two words for this bike……light and fast! Don’t miss your chance to get your hands on this super sweet ride. All proceeds from this sale will go directly to the WRBC to further our mission of enhancing the bicycle and pedestrian friendliness of the Wood River Valley!
Last, but not least, we also wanted to tell you about a Kickstarter campaign that will be ending in the next 24 hours. Local mountain guide and author, Matt Liedecker, is releasing another of his guide books called Exploring the Sawtooths. If you’ve seen any of his previous books (i.e. Exploring Sun Valley), you know that these aren’t just guide books. Instead they are virtually indestructible, beautifully designed, most comprehensive source of trail and geographic information available. Here’s a link to the Kickstarter campaign and look for a review from us in the next couple of weeks.
