The bike path is nearing the end of its normal 30-year life expectancy. If not addressed soon, the cost of repair will go up significantly. Deterioration is gaining speed, making now the most cost-effective time for repair.
On election day—May 21—Blaine County Rec. District will have a two-year levy on the ballot to generate the funding necessary to resurface and rebuild the Wood River Trails, also known as the bike path. The way this works is for two years homeowners will pay approximately $21 per $100,000 of taxable value.
Think about what an asset the bike path is to our community. It is an essential valley artery for recreation and healthy transportation. In 2012, the Wood River Valley Trail Count Study estimated well over 300,000 visits to the bike path! Baldy typically has around 400,000 skier days. To learn more go to Champion of the Wood River Trails and Blaine County Rec. District.
Please volunteer to help this cause by clicking here or contacting WRBC.
And of course, please vote yes on the levy for the Wood River Trails on May 21.
